The guys over at IntoMobile have found a revealing MeeGo bug report that seems to be spilling the beans on an upcoming Nokia smartphone with an Intel processor.
If the bug report, in fact, refers to a device that is headed for production, then it appears to be clear that Nokia will be joining the hardware arms race.
The core of the phone is a dual-core 1.6 GHz Intel Moorestown processor running in this case at 1597.440 MHz. The bug report also includes a 200 MHz graphics unit that drives a 480x854 pixel display, 1 GB RAM, a chip from NPS semiconductor that is dedicated to near-field communications as well as an Infineon 3G modem that supports HSPA+ speeds (21 Mbps downlink). Also included is the usual array of WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth and accelerometer armada of silicon.
Of course, there is no information when this phone, which very well could be the secretive N9 device, will be available. However, from a hardware perspective, this phone should be able to play with the big boys this year. More than likely, this will be a critical phone for Intel that needs too establish credibility that the company can compete with ARM in the smartphone processor arena.
